In Q1 2013, the local government expenditures of Shanghai Municipality amount to RMB 80.64 billion, RMB 1.68 billion more than Q1 2012, or 2.1% up in annual terms.  

During Q1 2013, the local government expenditures have been made according to the requirements of the Central Government and the Municipal Government of Shanghai that for government spending budget, everything should be taken into account, there should be clear focus, and spending in some sectors should be guaranteed while spending in some others should be controlled. During Q1 2013, more government spending has been made to promote steady economic growth, promote transformation and innovations, improve the people’s livelihood, facilitate social administration, and achieve balanced and sustainable development in both the urban and rural areas.
